DESCRIPTION

SOL Ethylene Glycol monostearate is an ester derived from esterification of ethylene glycol with fatty acids.

  • Melting Range: 54 to 60 degrees Celsius

EGMS is a functional additive used as a pearlescent and opacifying agent in personal care and cosmetic formulations. It appears as white flakes with a melting range of 56 to 64 degrees Celsius.

EGMS carries a mono content below 35 percent and a diester content below 70 percent, making it a more mono-ester-rich composition compared to EGDS, which carries a minimum diester content of 85 percent. This compositional difference is what distinguishes the two related ethylene glycol esters.

EGMS functions as a pearlizing agent in shampoos, liquid soaps, and bath and shower gels, giving them a shimmering visual effect, while in creams, lotions, and conditioners it functions as an opacifier to maintain a consistent, uniform appearance.
